Aldi Holiday Wax Melt Reviews 2021

This is a review of the Aldi (Huntington Home) Christmas/Holiday 2021 wax melts: First Snow, Frosted Vanilla, Holiday Cranberry, and Winter Balsam.

All 4 of these scents are fantastic!! The price has gone up from $1.69 to $1.89, which is perfectly okay, since that's still very affordable, and well worth it due to the high quality of these wax melts.

First Snow

This is an amazing, sweet scent of peppermint and milky vanilla, with a hint of wood, balsam, pine, and/or eucalyptus. It's like 65% peppermint, 15% vanilla, 15% of the woodsy balsamy pine/eucalyptus note, and maybe 5% chestnut because I think there's a smidgen of that way in the background. It's not smoky, and the vanilla note softens the scent and gives it a tiny bit of a foodie quality. It could also have a barely detectable smidgen of musk and/or amber.

Frosted Vanilla

I thought this was going to be the same vanilla cookie scent that they come out with every year, but it's totally different. This is a combination of sweet, slightly milky vanilla and warm, perfumey cashmere, with a hint of coconut and maybe a smidgen of sandalwood. It's divine, and I adore this scent!

Holiday Cranberry

This is a sweet, very fruity scent with a slightly bitter, fermented, vinegary note that candles and wax melts with alcohol type notes sometimes have; it smells more like wine than cranberry. No spice notes (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.) at all. Thankfully, the fruity note is so fruity that it tempers a lot of that vinegary note so it's more subtle. It smells a lot like ScentSationals Frosted Cranberry (which I believe is also a dupe of the old Better Homes & Gardens Iced Winter Cranberry), but that scent has a much stronger vinegary wine note than this one, so I like this scent much, much more. Because both Aldi and Threshold wax melts are made by Hanna's Candle, I assumed that their new cranberry scents, this Holiday Cranberry scent and Threshold Sugared Cranberries from Target, would be dupes of each other. But they're not. That scent has a bit of tartness, but not the vinegary/wine type tartness that this scent has, but it's also not as fruity and smells more like it has pomegranate in it. And although I really like both scents, I like this scent much more because the Threshold scent is more artificial, with a bit of a chemical note. I really like this festive, fruity scent! It's great on its own, but I'll probably mix it with a sweet vanilla scent because it's just a tad too tart for me.

Winter Balsam

Siberian fir needle oil, Texas cedar wood, sandalwood, spruce, fir balsam and raspberry

This is the same as the 2019 Aldi scent Woodland Pine (which is the same as Hanna's Candle Through the Woods), and I'm so glad they brought it back, because it's the best pine/spruce scent I've ever smelled. It's not a biting, eucalyptus, sour, rubbery, or Play-Doh type pine, but a rich, slightly smoky, slightly woodsy spruce scent. And if you like mixing pine with other scents (pine makes everything smell better), this is the perfect pine scent to use. Looking at the scent notes, I don't detect any raspberry or fruity notes.
